The arena will be a multi-purpose sports facility, which will not only be the new home of the BBL's Sheffield Sharks and the WBBL's Sheffield Hatters, but will also be available for wider sporting, education and community organisations.
Based at the heart of the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, the new arena will have three full-size basketball courts and will be designed to hold 2500 spectators. The arena will also be the hub for a new UK Basketball Academy and programme which will aim to serve the spectrum of recreational to elite players.
This is the first time any British Basketball club has been involved in a build which prioritising environmental impact and one that could be a spark for many others, as issues such as climate change and more which have a huge impact on the lifespan of the world, continues to become the main priority amongst many other societal issues.
The 'Park Community Arena' is anticipated to open in 2023. Find out more about it on the Sheffield Sharks website.
